Welcome to Night Watch Childcare's Therapeutic Childcare Program

Where Every Child Thrives

At Night Watch Childcare, we're more than just a childcare service. We're a dedicated team of professionals committed to providing holistic support for families facing unique challenges. Our mission is to serve children and families beyond just childcare. We're here to offer comprehensive support to parents, especially those with children exhibiting challenging behaviors due to PTSD, developmental delays, autism, or diagnosed emotionAl disturbances.

Our Therapeutic Childcare Program:

Community-Based Support

Our behavior coaches and technicians work directly with your child, whether in the community or at school, acting as mentors who provide personalized guidance and support.

Individualized Behavior Plans:

Each child in our program receives a multi-faceted assessment, meticulously crafted by a team of experts, including a qualified special education teacher and LCSW, Dr. Amy Stewart. These assessments form the basis for a tailored behavior plan that addresses your child's unique needs.

Parenting Coaching:

We believe in supporting parents as much as we support children. That's why we provide coaching from a certified parenting coach, offering weekly Q&A sessions and monthly "Lunch and Learn" training sessions to equip you with the tools you need.

Lower Child-to-Staff Ratio:

Our program maintains a low child-to-staff ratio to ensure that each child receives the individualized attention and care they deserve.

My name is Shanda Ward, and I am a dynamic woman who thrives on staying busy. Born in Washington, DC, I pursued my B.S. degree at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and earned an M.S. in Community Counseling at Wilmington University. As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Clinical LC Supervisor, I dedicated over 20 years to Maple Shade Youth and Family Services, holding various leadership roles, and served as a Behavioral Health Therapist at Community Behavioral Health for seven years. Last year, I joined Tidal Health Hospital as an Advanced Behavioral Clinician at the Crisis Center.

I am a proud mother of two incredible young ladies pursuing their education at UMES and Wor Wic Community College. Married to Dr. Ricky Ward, I also serve as a caretaker for my mother, who recently relocated to the Eastern Shore from Washington, DC.

In 2019, my family and I founded the Eastern Shore of Maryland Sickle Cell Association, now a non-profit. The association aims to identify needs and service gaps, advocate for those affected by sickle cell, and educate communities for progress toward a cure.

During my leisure time, I actively engage with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Princess Anne Alumnae Chapter, contribute to various activities for ESMSCDA, and knit baby hats for the maternity ward and adult hats for the cancer center.
